How do writers cope with rejection by publishers? Usually they have no team of fellow sufferers to turn to. I describe here the nature of getting work published in the scientific world where I work and contrast the process with publishing fiction. In science you have the recourse of replying to specific criticisms, which is lacking to authors of fiction. I suggest a remedy: write a satire of some aspect publishing world.
